I love what I'm doing, and I think it shows. My clients are happy, creative women who have a great sense of humor (and appreciate mine), and as a small business owner myself I understand both the perks and the pressures involved in running your own show.
What inspired you to start your company?
As a career administrative professional, I have more than twenty years of experience supporting senior-level executives in both public and privately held financial services, high tech, retail, and professional services companies.
While these working relationships were immensely rewarding, I wanted to have more control over how I worked and for whom. So, after graduating from AssistUthe premier (and rigorous) training program for virtual assistantsI launched Capital Virtual Assistance.
Who are your clients?
My clientswho represent a wide range of professions and disciplinesare terrific! They are bright, successful women who love what they do, but struggle to find enough time to manage their businessor have a quality personal life. We work hard and appreciate what each of us brings to the partnership.

How is a virtual assistant different from a traditional part-time employee?
When you work with a virtual assistant, you are working with a true partner. Aside from the economic advantages of not having to provide benefits, pay employer taxes, or purchase extra equipment, your virtual assistant is the go-to person for anything you don't have timeor simply don't wantto do yourself. Call me with requests big and small, business or personal. I approach every assignment with the same care and attention to detail that YOU would bring to the job. I set high standards for myself; my clients also have high standards. And because, like you, I am a business owner, I know first-hand the importance of commitment, communication, and creating a quality relationship.
Is virtual assistance right for everyone?
Virtual assistance is great for small and home-based businesses, non-profits, or individuals who simply have too much to do. But it's not for everyone. For example, if yours is a business that by circumstance or habit runs in emergency mode much of the time, you will probably find that having a virtual assistant just doesn't serve you. But virtual assistance is ideal if you are computer-savvy; comfortable communicating by telephone and through e-mail; and willing to delegate, trusting that your virtual assistant will take good care of you and your business. A sense of the absurd helps a lot, as does the ability to laugh at yourself on occasion.
May I contact some of your clients to see what it's like to work with you?
Absolutely. I value each client's privacy, and never talk about clients or their work. However, my clients have told me they would be happy to talk to you on my behalf. (Naturally, I would want to let clients know in advance that you might call.)
How would we work together?
We would communicate mostly over the telephone and through e-mail. There are also many user-friendly, Internet-based collaborative tools that allow file-sharing, remote computer access, and much more.
It sounds good, but I'm not sure. What can I do to determine if virtual assistance is right for me?
That's a great question. I usually suggest that each working day you simply try and be conscious of the tasks you are doingand which ones you really don't need to be handling personally. Write down anything you could delegate to your virtual assistant. I think the size of the list will surprise you.
OK, I'm ready to start working smarter, but I have a couple of additional questions.
Great! I'd love to talk to you about ways we can work together.
